# LidShutter

> LidShutter is a tiny Mac menu bar app that plays a rolling shop shutter when you open your MacBook lid, and a cheerful pop when you close it. 22 original sounds. Works offline after you activate it.

- What it is: a paid macOS menu bar app that plays a sound when you open your MacBook lid and another when you close it.
- Sounds: 22 original sounds, all generated in code inside the app (no recordings, no audio files).
- Requirements: macOS 13 Ventura or later. Works on Macs with a lid; on MacBooks with a lid angle sensor the close sound can start before the lid shuts.
- Price: one-time purchase in US dollars, no subscription. Launch pricing for one Mac starts at $1.99 and rises as launch licenses sell (5 licenses at each of $1.99, $2.99, $3.99, $4.99; 20 launch licenses in total). After that one Mac costs $4.99.
- Several Macs: one license key can cover 2 to 10 Macs (2 Macs $8.99, 3 Macs $12.99, 4 Macs $16.99, 5 Macs $19.99, 6 Macs $22.99, 7 Macs $25.99, 8 Macs $28.99, 9 Macs $31.99, 10 Macs $34.99).
- License: lifetime license with free updates. One key activates the number of Macs it was bought for; a key can be moved to a new Mac by deactivating the old one.
- No trial: the app stays locked until a license key is activated (needs internet once; then it works offline).
- Privacy: the app has no account and no analytics. It only contacts the license service to activate, deactivate and re-check a key, and lidshutter.com about once a day to look for a new version.
- Distribution: sold directly from lidshutter.com as a notarized download (not on the Mac App Store). Payments and license keys are handled by Polar.
